Last night Canada went to the polls. Well, a mere 58.8 % of us did.
Put another way, a whopping 41.2 % of us are not allowed to complain when the above pictured gentleman is finally able to do all the things he’s been wanting to do since first being elected in 2006 with a minority government.
It’s not a minority now, bitches. Even if only 23.3 % of Canadians voted for the Conservatives. Apparently that’s all it takes these days.
Those who were too apathetic to vote this year because Stephen Harper “didn’t seem like he’d been doing such a bad job” might be in for a bit of a surprise.
Perhaps social services won’t end up being slashed to the bone and laws surrounding gay marriage and abortion won’t be revisited. But there’s a chance they will. And if they are, I’m glad I can honestly say I voted against those eventualities.
Myself, once again I’m thinking about spending the next four years in Auroville.
