~  I told Stephen yes. He may crash in my pad. Though I suggested O’Halloran is probably looking for a roommate in September.

~  I’ve been reminded that when telling strangers semi-hypothetical anecdotes, you should try to be as accurate as possible because you never know who might overhear. Jebus crebus, Jakob. When will you ever learn?

Fort Apache, The Bronx has, I think perhaps, the most bogglingly out of place final 3 minutes in 30 years of cinematic history. What the hell happened there?

Can’t be more out of place than the end of Takeshi Miike’s ‘Dead or Alive’. Imagine if ‘Heat’ had ended with Pacino and Deniro concluding a brutal gunfight by throwing fireballs at each other and blowing up the planet.

Ryan was screaming at the TV.

Okay then. 30 years of american cinema. But though not as extreme, the same kind of about face in tone.

You’re not supposed to drink the fertilizer. The fertilizer is for the plants.

      • That was me hassling you with a sort of Ulysses reference.

      • mrdapper says:

I assumed so. It didn’t rule out the possibility of the consumption of fertilizer though.

        FUCK ULYSSES.

Seriously, you need a translator to understand that shizz. I know it may be totally amazing that the characters can see boats out the window and Joyce made sure that would have been the right boat at the right day (I love and appreciate the attention to detail) but the novel is not my deal. And it’s not like I don’t appreciate Joyce himself – I’ve read some great short stories by him. I think my main gripe is the emphasis my English major ex placed upon reading Joyce, like I was some sort of subhuman who still made messes on the floor for not having read this large book of allusion.

      • Boats?

I like how Joyce does cat meows. Like this: “Mrkgnao!”
